What Happened?
Some occasional squeaks or popping can occur as a floor continues to acclimate to a home after installation, particularly in a newly constructed home. Seasonal change may also result in some occasional noise.
What else could be causing my floor to make noises?
Other sources of more persistent flooring noise include subfloor movement, structural movement, improper joist spacing or subfloor thickness, inadequate fastening of flooring to substrate (nailing or adhesive), excessively dry conditions in the home, or mis-milling.
What to do about a noisy floor?
Depending on the cause, additional fastening or adhesive injection may resolve some isolated squeaks. If an overall noisy condition exists, it may require more extensive rework to resolve.
Is it a warranty issue?
Most causes of floor squeeking and popping noises are found to be due to environmental acclimation or installation issues. In the unlikely event that the noise is caused by your flooring not being milled correctly, that would be an issue covered under the Somerset Limited Warranty as a manufacturing defect.
